Decision of the State Council to Amend Some Administrative Regulations

(Order No. 714 of the State Council of the People's Republic of China)

I. Article 8 of the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Registered Architects is amended to read: “Those who meet one of the following conditions may apply for permission to take the qualification examination for Grade-1 registered architects:

    “(1) in possession of a Master’s degree or higher in architecture, or a Doctorate of engineering in a closely related specialty and at least two years’ work experience in architectural design or a related profession;

    “(2) in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a Master’s degree in engineering in a closely related specialty and at least three years’ work experience in architectural design or a related profession;

    “(3) in possession of an undergraduate education in architecture and at least five years’ work experience in architectural design or in a related profession, or in possession of an undergraduate education in a specialty closely related to architecture and at least seven years’ work experience in architectural design or a related profession;

    “(4) in possession of the technical title of senior engineer and at least three years’ work experience in architectural design or a related profession, or in possession of the technical title of engineer and at least five years’ work experience in architectural design or a related profession; or

    “(5) outstanding achievements in architectural design and recognition by the National Administration Committee of Architectural Registration as having attained the same professional level as prescribed in the aforesaid four items, even if none of the aforesaid four conditions is met.

    “Persons prescribed in items (3) through (5) of the aforesaid paragraph shall have obtained a Bachelor’s degree.”
